Notes:

Norman Kaplan at the age of 86 passed away surrounded by loved ones on October 13, 2021.
A veteran, father, and friend to all, Norm’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. His legacy
will continue by his loved ones, living their lives to the fullest.
Norman Kaplan was the son of Charles and Rose Kaplan born in the Bronx, New York April 19, 1935.
Growing up with his older sister Libby on Davidson Avenue, they adored each other. In 1951 at 16, he
met the love of his life, Miriam (Mimi) Feinstein. Theirs was a love story. Norm and Mimi sealed the deal
and married on May 10, 1956 at The Burnside Manor in the Bronx, New York. After graduating from
William Howard Taft High School, he served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. New Jersey.
Norm and Mimi had their first daughter Cheryl Mina in 1957 and then Amy Beth in 1962. Norman’s
“pride and joy” were his “Girls,” Cheryl and Amy. He always said that being with his “Girls” were the
greatest moments of his life. The Kaplan family travelled and shared many wonderful memories that
included The Catskills, Acapulco, Mexico and Naples, Florida.
For 44 years the Kaplans lived in Lindenwood Village, Howard Beach, Queens, New York. Norm was the
manager at Educational Record Sales also for 44 years. He was highly recognized for his dedication and
hard work. Even while working full time at ESR, he presided over the Lindenwood co-op board. Upon
retirement, Norm and Mimi moved to Deerfield Beach, Florida, where he continued his role, and was
President of the Farnham K co-op at Century Village 17 years. Norm’s easy going and pleasant
personality was contagious to everyone.
Norm was dearly loved by his family and friends, and returned that love to everyone. Norm was a
cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, son, and friend to many. He was a role model
and he was a Mensch in the truest sense of the word and in every way. A good soul, he was special to
everyone.
Norman Kaplan is survived by his wife Mimi Kaplan, children Cheryl and Mana Premmana and Amy and
Bobby Uhrig, and his grandchildren Amanda Rose, Schulman, Melissa Brooke Schulman, and Maxwell
Ryan and Samantha Premmana. Resonating for all his family and friends are the words: “You left us
beautiful memories, your love is still my guide, and though I cannot see you, you’re always by my side.”
