SANDBERG – Stephen Arnold passed away on August 27th, 2025 at the age of 86. He was a beloved son, husband, father, uncle, brother, cousin, lifelong friend to many and a super human being. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Lynn of over 62 years, his daughter Laura Sandberg-Levine and husband Al Levine, his son Gary Sandberg and predeceased by daughter-in-law Stephanie Hartstein.
Steve graduated from Bronx High School of Science and went on to receive a chemistry degree and a Masters in Chemical Engineering in an accelerated combined program from Queens College and Columbia, then an MBA from NYU! He retained a truly remarkable amount of information and trivia through the years. His career redirected him into a new field at the time called I.T.- to become a data modeler and data architect consultant. Steve loved his work and most of all – his time with friends and family. He enjoyed playing bridge, food, music, dancing, baseball, creating spreadsheets and watching Jeopardy!
If you were lucky enough to know him, you knew someone who had joy and love in his life and your life was better for it. He was smart, warm and funny. People remember his sense of humor and his loud, hearty laugh. He taught his children an unwavering work ethic, the priority of family, the importance of laughter and always getting back behind the wheel in life. Born the same year Superman was introduced to the world by Marvel Comics – it became his nickname. It was a great fit. He was strong, kind and always used his powers for good. Plus, we’ve never seen these two in the same room together.
The love lives on.
Rest in peace, Superman.
