Notes:

Evan S. Gorin
Evan Gorin, beloved father, husband, musician, engineer and friend, passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 72, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Fresno, California in 1953 to Ruth Bell of Evanston, Illinois, Evan was adopted at birth by his loving parents, Florence and Lee Gorin. Raised by his mother in Glen Oaks, New York, Evan developed a passion for music early in life. He began playing the guitar at the age of ten, a pursuit that stayed a constant thread throughout his life.
In retirement his lifelong love of music became a true vocation. With encouragement from his family to seek out fellow musicians, Evan joined the Beatles Music Jam of Long Island and quickly became known as an immensely talented and sought-after lead guitarist, building the kind of friendships that come only from late-night rehearsals, shared stages, and gigs from Manhattan to the Hamptons.
Evan’s curiosity extended far beyond music and engineering. He was drawn to anything that invited deeper understanding and spent his life following that sense of deep curiosity and boundless creativity. Gifted with both mathematical mastery and an artist’s sensitivity, he approached every project as a learning experience- whether it was building shelves for his daughter’s home, volunteering to help others, or adding powerful pick-ups to his favorite guitars. His mind was always at work: solving problems, improving systems, tinkering, and exploring. Never bored, he made sure that the people around him were always inspired.
Evan’s positivity was one of his defining qualities. Not even cancer could diminish his drive to explore, learn, and seek joy in new experiences. He and his wife Jill made it a point to see the country and the world, loving each other and appreciating every day they had together.
Evan was a devoted and loving father to his daughter Roberta. He was gentle, supportive, endlessly proud and a grounding presence in her life. Their bond was deep and unmistakable, built on shared creativity, humor, and unwavering love.
Evan is survived by his daughter, Roberta (Gorin) Paracka and son-in-law, Geoff, and by his wife, Jill Klasson Gorin. He is also survived by his stepsons Jeff (Ellen) and Craig (Cara) and their families, including his cherished grandchildren Carter, Cole, Ethan, and Samantha. Additional survivors include his half-sister, Patricia Hayden, nieces Ruth and Melissa, and nephews Max and Zach. He is preceded in death by his biological mother, his adoptive parents, his stepmother, Phyllis Gorin, his first wife, Susan (Gerber) Gorin, and his dear friend Richard Altman, a brother to him in all blood.
Evan lived his life with intention and generosity, and his loss leaves a profound emptiness in all the lives of those who knew him- family, friends, and bandmates, all of
whom were touched by his kindness, brilliance, and quiet warmth. The people who loved him will carry his spirit forward in music, in curiosity, and in the way they treat others.
