Edith Goodman (née Gorset), born December 2, 1932, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on January 10, 2026. Born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and raised in Long Beach, New York, Edith spent her childhood playing on the beach with her friends. She was the eldest child of Faye (née Levitsky) and Albert Gorset.
Edith attended Ithaca College and later worked in the garment industry before meeting the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Goodman (1924–2014). Edith and Bob married in 1955, building a warm and devoted family life together in Oceanside, New York, where they raised their two children, Pamela and Peter.
In 2008, they moved to Boynton Beach, Florida, where Edith lovingly cared for Bob until his passing. She was a devoted wife and a committed and caring mother.
Edith enjoyed a rich and varied professional life in interior design—a trade that came naturally to her. A talented interior designer, Edith had a natural eye for style and elegance. Family members often remarked that she was always impeccably dressed, and even in her final days Edith remained passionate about design, color, and art.
Edith also pursued a career as a counselor later in life—work she approached with deep compassion. She had a rare gift for listening, reflecting, and helping others feel understood, and she touched many lives through her wisdom and empathy.
Edith was also an excellent cook who enjoyed entertaining, and she especially enjoyed French cuisine. She and Bob traveled extensively, exploring art, culture, and food.
Edith is survived by her sister, Ruth; her children, Pamela and Peter (Bryn); and her cherished grandchildren, Adam and Liv.
The funeral will be held at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, New York, at the graveside on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11:15
