Paul J. Shields, 75, passed away the morning of February 24, 2026, after an extended battle with Parkinson’s for over 14 years. Born on November 25, 1950, in New Jersey, Paul lived on Long Island and spent most of his adult life in Huntington, NY.
After graduating from college at Albany State, Paul opened a small CPA firm in Huntington. A dedicated and skillful accountant, Paul ran his successful business for over forty years, never even taking time for a personal vacation. All his clients knew what a fantastic professional, and dear friend, he was.
But along with his “day job,” his love of music was a driving force in Paul’s life. He played with many bands around the Huntington area over the years, including the infamous annual “Paper Bag” music festival. His collection of harmonicas and Blues musical riffs were legendary. He loved Huntington, and his directory of friends is long and treasured.
Paul is survived by his younger sister Dinny with her husband, Ken; his favorite niece Hannah; along with first cousins Susan, Jeffery, Michael, Jayne, Peter, Robyn, Andrea, Laura, Serena and Myra.
A special note of thanks to Christine (“Tudy”) for all her unwavering support and friendship; as well as Simmone, Joy and the compassionate staff at The Bristal of East Northport facility; along with Good Shepherd Hospice.
A small graveside service will be held at the family plot in Wellwood Cemetery on Monday morning, March 2, 2026, 11:00 a.m. We are requesting donations to the Parkinson’s Research Foundation to help put an end to this debilitating disease.
