Notes:
Maidie Doris Schwartz, age 99, passed away June 21, 2026 in Boca Raton,
Florida.
She was born April 30, 1927, in Newark, New Jersey, a daughter of the late
Mary and Joseph Heimberg. Through her journey of 99 years, she touched
many lives with her smile, humor and an unwavering spirit of seeing the
good in others.
She met and fell in love with her husband, Bert Schwartz, while at
Weequahic Highschool in Newark, NJ . . . Their romance lasted more than
70 years. Married in 1948, they started out with almost nothing and built
incredible lives, raising four boys and later traveling around the world.
Driven by an endless thirst for knowledge, Maidie was a lifelong learner and
a devoted teacher. Later, when her own four boys were in school, at most
teacher – parent conferences if there were any challenges between her
boys and their teachers, she always took the side of the teachers. She
loved clothing and was always “dressed to the nines” wearing brightly
colored clothes that everyone commented on. She had a welcoming,
infectious smile for everyone around her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bert
Schwartz, two brothers, Robert and Eugene Heimberg; and her third son,
Marc. She is survived by her other three sons and daughter in laws: Elliot
and Sher Schwartz of Waverly Hall, Georgia; Steven and Elizabeth
Schwartz of Deer Island, Florida; Richard and Donna Schwartz of Long
Branch, New Jersey. Maidie also leaves her Grand Son and his wife, Drew
and Annie Schwartz of Saint Louis, Missouri in addition to grandchildren:
James Callaghan of Vernon, Vermont and Joseph Callaghan of Orlando,
Florida; and Great grandchildren of James, Stella and Willow Callaghan.
At the family’s request there will be no services at this time. Maidie will be
interred with her late husband, Bert, at the South Florida National Cemetery
in Lake Worth, Florida. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to honor Maidie’s legacy by loving your
family and friends.
