Ira Schneider, 94, of Boynton Beach, passed away peacefully on July 28th at Bethesda Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Norma (Sandler) for 64 years until her death in 2018. Ira was born in 1931 in Cuba. He moved with his father to Brooklyn at age 6, graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1948 and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. Ira moved with Norma from Port Jefferson, NY to Florida in 1978, where he worked as a regional manager for Lanson’s Men’s Clothing in Fort Lauderdale until his retirement in 1995.
All those who knew him will remember him as a smart, independent, caring person, with a great sense of humor, who loved his family more than anything else, and always looked forward to visits with his son and daughter-in-law. He loved his Majestic Isles community, especially his time participating in the Majestic Isles Little Theater Group, where he performed and created videos for the members. He enjoyed technology and was always happy on his computer, sharing his Daily Chuckle emails, making cards, and staying caught up on the news. He was a lifelong baseball fan, religiously following the Marlins.
He is survived by his loving son, Steve and daughter-in-law, Kathy; sister-in-law Lorraine Dachman; close nieces Kim Klepack, Lynn Weisenfeld, Ronnie Kosik and their families; and many dear friends, including Arlene Koch and Ed Strauber, and Stan Rothstein.
