Interment to follow at New Montefiore Cemetery, W. Babylon New York

Phyllis Putter-Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend- passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on April 17, 2024. She was born on July 10, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY to Ethel and Frank Garb- one of three devoted sisters. She was a graduate of NYU School of Education and earned her certificate in Social Work from Adelphi University, ultimately dedicating her career to serving youth.

Phyllis had a vibrant, charismatic personality, a passion for fashion, and a strong sense of loyalty to her friends and their families. She and her husband of 65 years, Dr. Bernard Putter, had a true love story- they were devoted partners, on and off the tennis court. Wherever Phyllis and Bernie went, everyone wanted to be part of the fun. Always the social director, Phyllis brought people together in community, with her effervescent spirit and infectious energy. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren-she loved them fiercely and pushed them to be the best versions of themselves.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband Bernie, their two children Joseph Putter and Lauren (Putter) Menzin, and their respective spouses Sonia and Andrew. Their two grandchildren Sydney and Marcus Menzin, and their respective partners Joshua Goldenberg and Elizabeth Gambino, will miss their “Nimi” deeply.

Donations in Phyllis’s memory may be made to The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program(https://breast-cancer.adelphi.edu/donate/) and The USTA Foundation (https://ustafoundation.com/donate).
