Notes:
Date of Birth: November 20, 1935
Arthur Gerald Kraut was a devoted husband to Barbara, proud father to Susan and son in-law, Michael, and Michael and daughter in-law, Lynne and loving grandfather to Stephanie, Jason, Julia, and Caroline. He was also the cherished brother of Ted and Larry.
A lifelong supporter of New York sports, Artie’s loyalty has always belonged to the Yankees, Giants, Knicks, and Rangers. His passion for his teams has been a constant source of joy and connection throughout his life.
Artie graduated from Lawrence High School and went on to become the first college graduate in the Kraut family, earning his degree from Hofstra University. He built a long, respected career in the children’s garment industry at Cute Togs before continuing into a second chapter of work that reflected his remarkable drive. Known for his fierce work ethic. Most recently, he dedicated his time to selling laundry parts to some of the nation’s largest commercial laundry operators—a role he approached with the same determination and pride that defined his entire professional life.
An avid crossworder and book reader, his ability allowed him to do not just Sunday NYT crosswords, but to complete the dreaded Friday and Saturday puzzles. Additionally, as a voracious reader, his recommendations to “must-reads” made many peoples day. His legacy will live on as many of his grandchildren have the same crossword and book reading passion that will always be part of his legacy.
Above all, Artie’s life has been shaped by devotion to family, unwavering loyalty, and an enduring commitment to hard work. His warmth, perseverance, passion and his wonderful curmudgeon comments will leave a legacy felt deeply by all who knew him.
