Carolyn Gerstman- In loving memory of a great and special wife, mom, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to so many. We love you dearly and will miss you forever.
Carol Gerstman passed on August 7, 2026, at the age of 87 preceded by her daughter Lisa Beth, her husband Harvey, her mother Natalie, her father Herman and her brother Gary. She is survived by her sons Dan and Brad and daughter Linda; daughters in law Pam and Cheryl and her six grandchildren Lee, Lara, Lauren, Charlie, Brooke, and Gaby and her six great- grandchildren Lyla, Stella, Austin, Lainey, Barrett, and Mason. She was first and foremost a family woman, but also loved to plan trips and travel. She enjoyed art, especially Harvey’s work, but collected pieces from various artists around the world. Carol also had a flair for interior design, shopping for her family, playing board games with her children and grand children and sharing cultural experiences.
Carol Sales was born November 12, 1938 and lived a full life. She grew up in Brooklyn in the 1950s with lots of enjoyment including an amazing older brother Gary, lots of friendships made at the JCC of Bensonhurst where she participated in cheerleading and other activities. She spent summers at sleep-away camp at Camp Delaware and attended Abraham Lincoln High School. Her father was a Tailor who enjoyed using his creative hands to make trinkets and a mother who prepared their home with lots of love. Carol went on to graduate high school to become an Administrative Assistant at CBS Broadcasting. When the love of her life Harvey returned from the army, they married in 1957 and shared 63 years of beloved marriage.
Carol Gerstman was the rock behind a self-made man who concentrated on the betterment of her family. In 1978, she was the inspiration for Harvey to come off the road as a Vice President of Sales and to start his own local sales agency which grew to over 1500 strong. Carol went on to her own successful career as a Travel Agent, using her talent to create wonderful excursions for clients. She formed important friendships from her childhood through her days as an adult living in Rosedale, Valley Stream, Manhasset and the Polo Club in Florida. As a member of the Glen Head Country Club, Carol and Harvey enjoyed wonderful friendships and traveled extensively with them.
Carol co-founded the Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation, a not for profit that now provides funding to forty summer day camps and has enabled thousands of children to attend summer camp in the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan area. The foundation was formed in memory of her daughter Lisa Beth who passed tragically in a summer camp bus accident on July 15, 1970.
