Following the service, the family will be receiving all of those Dean loved and touched dearly at the residence of Michelle and Gary Brown, 21 Park Drive, Lido Beach, NY 11561

Dean is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; mother, Hilda Brown; sister Robin (Chad) Macek; nieces Ashley Schuyler, Rachel (Joe) Sosnowski, nephew Jack (Savannah) Schuyler; uncle Joseph (Grace) Brown; and many dear cousins and their families.

Dean, who seamlessly blended Rock, Jazz, Funk, Latin, and Fusion, created a symphony of joy, soul, and intensity that transcended boundaries and captivated audiences worldwide.

Dean’s journey in the global jazz/fusion scene spanned five decades, during which his virtuosic rhythm guitar work and impassioned melodic solos became hallmarks of his musical identity. His guitar mastery graced hundreds of recordings, earning numerous GRAMMY® nominations and contributing to four GRAMMY® Award-winning albums. Collaborations with legendary artists like Marcus Miller, The Brecker Brothers, David Sanborn, Billy Cobham, and Roberta Flack showcased the breadth of his unparalleled talent.

A true veteran of the touring circuit, Dean’s performances at prestigious international music festivals, from Montreux to Tokyo, reflected his dedication to bringing music to diverse audiences. His five remarkable solo albums stand as a testament to his musical journey, each a unique expression of his artistry and creativity.

Beyond the stage, Dean shaped the musical landscape through teaching, imparting his wisdom to aspiring musicians. His commitment to sharing his musical gifts ensured that his melodies continued to resonate near and far, leaving a lasting impact on generations to come.
