Douglas R. Halstrom passed away on August 31, 2026. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose humor, work ethic, and quiet thoughtfulness touched everyone who knew him.
Doug graduated from the University of Iowa in 1987 and earned his law degree from St. Louis University School of Law in 1990. It was there that he met the love of his life, Robin. He went on to build a 36-year career as an attorney at L’Abbate, Balkan, Colavita & Contini — a testament to his loyalty and dedication.
Doug and Robin raised two children, Amanda and Jared, both of whom made him immensely proud. Amanda became an endocrinologist, and Jared an orthopedic surgeon. Doug was also a loving grandfather to Emma, Amanda’s daughter.
Outside of work, Doug was an avid golfer and a dedicated runner who completed eight marathons. For over a decade, he gave generously of his time to Big Brothers Big Sisters, where he served as a mentor and helped shape the lives of several “little brothers” over the years.
Those who knew Doug will remember him as a man who thought deeply about everything — a rare combination of a sharp mind and a warm heart, always ready with a joke and always willing to help.
Doug is survived by his wife, Robin; his children, Amanda and Jared; and his granddaughter, Emma.
