Dr. Charles Alan Berg, of Island Park, New York sadly passed away on November 9, 2023, at the age of 91. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and friend.
He was born in the Bronx, NY, as the only child of Jeanne and Benjamin Berg. Charles attended the Bronx School of Science, graduating in only 3-1/2 years and then attended college at his beloved Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Chuck, as he was known to his friends throughout his life was a member of Pi Lambda Phi. After college, he graduated from dental school at New York University in 1957. He married the love of his life, Joy Silverberg in 1956. Dr. Berg served as a Captain in the United States Army and was stationed in Highwood, Illinois from 1957-1959. Upon his completion of service, Dr. Berg opened his dental practice in Westbury, NY in 1959 until he retired in 2002.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Jeanne and Benjamin Berg and is survived by the love of his life and wife of 67 years, Joy (Silverberg) Berg, brother-in-law, Joel Silverberg, daughter Michelle Berg, son, Bruce Berg, daughter-in-law Laurie (Schultz) Berg and his grandchildren, Joshua Berg, Michelle (Clemente) Berg and Danielle Berg. Charles regarded his lifelong friends of 75 years, Peter and Rudy Worms and Ruth and Ruby Camins as his extended family.
The services were held on November 10, 2023 at the South Shore Jewish Center in Island Park with a graveside burial following the service at Mount Ararat Cemetery in Lindenhurst, NY.
