Eric Harold Holtzman, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025. A funeral will be held at Wellwood Beth Moses Cemetery in West Babylon on Monday, July 21st at 11am.

Eric was born on May 13, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York to Goldie and Jacob Holtzman. As a child, he spent summers at Camp Kinder Ring where he formed lifelong friendships with his fellow campers. At about the age of 6, Eric moved to Massapequa, Long Island where he went on to graduate from Plainedge High School. He then earned his B.A. in Philosophy at the University of Rochester in 1969 and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1972. Early in his law career, he worked in the office of New York Attorney General Louis Lefkowitz as well as the firm of Farrell Fritz. He then launched his own firm in the 1980s, developing a robust litigation practice. In recent years, Eric transitioned into mediation and arbitration work with the American Arbitration Association. In addition to his practice, Eric was proud to serve his profession as an over 50-year member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, including serving for over 25 years on its Fee Dispute Resolution Committee.

Beyond his dedication to the legal profession, Eric took tremendous joy in culinary delights, whether that be a fine meal at Peter Luger or the array of offerings from Tastykake. If you mentioned just about any place in the United States, he would regale you with stories of the meals enjoyed there. A voracious reader, Eric was a true bibliophile, and he even created a library in his home for his extensive book collection. Perhaps more than anything, however, he took joy in spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He will undoubtedly be remembered for his warm smile, kind and generous spirit, and cheerful demeanor.

He is survived by his sister Lucy Holtzman, his former wife Shirley Holtzman, his two children, Ben Holtzman and Rachel Vega, his son-in-law Sammy Vega, his niece and nephew Emma and Peter Gave, and his grandchildren Ruby and Ari Vega.
