Notes:
Jacqueline “Jackie” Kaufman, 95, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026 in Livingston, New Jersey.
Born on October 14, 1930 in the Bronx, NY to Tessie and Benjamin Dinofsky, Jackie was the oldest of three children. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in the Bronx and in 1951 married the love of her life Isaac “Ike” Kaufman. The pair began raising their family in Levittown, NY on Long Island before moving to what would become their family home in Hicksville. With a generous heart and welcoming spirit, Jackie made friends everywhere she went and was often at the center of any social circle. She was especially devoted to her friendships formed in the Order of Pythian Sisters with whom she enjoyed a wonderful community and meaningful engagement in philanthropic work. An avid sports fan from an early age, Jackie quickly took to a life-long love of her favorite New York teams: the New York Mets and New York Jets. When she wasn’t watching a sports game, she was enjoying life travelling, spending time at the casino, and playing games with friends.
The Kaufman family owned and operated two businesses in the Nassau Farmer’s Market in the 1970s and early 80s. Jackie ran the clothing booth and Ike managed a booth buying and selling stamps, coins, and camera equipment. Jackie worked several years as a microfiche operator at the New York Times in Levittown before ultimately retiring from there.
In 2005, Jackie’s husband and soulmate passed away, and then in 2015, this long-time New Yorker made New Jersey her new home. As an active member of the The Jewish Federation and then the Daughters of Israel Home, she fostered great friendships, became involved in the Jewish community, and participated in every social event. Jackie’s favorite activity, though, was spending time with her family. She was incredibly proud of the family that she and her late husband grew and especially looked forward to the yearly Thanksgiving family gathering. As the family’s matriarch, she was blessed with four children, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Jackie is survived by her children, Andrew (Amy) Kaufman, David (Henni) Kaufman, and Neil (Suzy) Kaufman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Kaufman, her daughter, Lori Sachare (née Kaufman), and her sisters, Estelle Marra (née Dinofsky) and Dorothy Dimersky (née Dinofsky)
A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at 12:00pm on Sunday, March 29 at Gutterman’s Funeral Home in Woodbury, Long Island with a procession to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Daughters of Israel.(https://www.daughtersofisrael.org/support-us/make-a-general-donation).
Following the conclusion of the service at Gutterman’s Memorial Chapel in Woodbury, the funeral procession will be heading to Beth Moses Cemetery for the burial services.
