It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Myra Berman, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on March 14th at 93 years old. She will be forever remembered by her daughters Patti Katzman (Neil) and Sheri Gold (Robert) and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Beth (James), Jake and Zoey; Alan (Meredith) and Joey; David (Faith), Maddy, and Haley; Max, Maxine and Jonathan; Gaby (Steve) and Chase; Lily (Opal) and Ben.
Myra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose warmth, energy, caring and strength were appreciated by many. She graduated from James Madison high school in Brooklyn at the age 16 and worked as a bookkeeper because World War II put a pause in her plans to attend college. She married Milton, the boy next door, on March 30, 1946 in Brooklyn and they moved to Levittown in 1951. Eventually they moved to Rockville Centre with their two daughters, where they remained until retiring to Florida where she and Milton enjoyed golf and spending time with their many friends.
Family brought joy to Myra and she had a special bond with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who will never forget her warm hugs or those family gatherings with Grandma’s mandelbrot, seven layer cookies, rocky road, almond crescent cookies and other homemade baked goods.
A graveside service will be held at Beth Moses Cemetery in Farmingdale on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
Memorial donations can be made to the Trustbridge Hospice Foundation, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or online at www.trustbridgefoundation.org to support the wonderful nurses and doctors that cared for Myra at the end of her life.
