Naomi Elana Kirsch was born Naomi Elana Kroll in Brooklyn, NY on January 12,
1938 to Irving and Mildred Kroll. She grew up in East Flatbush with her brother
Kenny. She was a very serious student and graduated from Tilden High School in
1954 when she was 16. That summer, she met the man she would marry, Larry
Kirsch. They wed in 1958 and spent 65 wonderful years together.
She is a graduate of Brooklyn College and Long Island University, where she
received her masters in Biology, with a focus on microbial genetics.
Naomi spent her professional career as a High School teacher, spending over 30
years, the most of which were at Susan E. Wagner High School in Staten Island.
She taught biology, ecology, was a guidance counselor and supervised the scholar
academy for gifted and talented students.
Upon retiring, she traveled extensively with her husband and often with family
and almost always on programs that had a teaching component, continuing her
love of learning. She also enjoyed tennis, golf, bridge, scrapbooking, cooking and
baking. She was incredibly devoted to her family and friends and will be missed
by all. She is survived by her husband Larry, brother Kenneth Kroll, sons Leonard
(Alicja) and David (Ora) and daughter Sharon (Jeremy), grandchildren Melissa
(Avi), Spencer (Shellie), Alexandra (Oscar), Nadia (Aldo), Alex (Jules), Laynie (Jared)
and Isabella (McKenna), great grandchildren
