Phyllis Kay, 79, of Plantation, Florida passed away February 6, 2026. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Jeffrey Kay: children Robyn and Steve (Erica); grandchildren Olivia and Shane; and many cousins and friends.
Phyllis is preceeded in death by her parents Rose and Sam, sister Janet, daughter Randi, and her son-in-law Steven. Phyllis will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, educator and friend.
Phyllis was born in the Bronx, raised in Plainview, before moving to Plantation, Florida to raise her family. She attended Queens College, graduating magna cum laude, and then matriculated at the University of Pennsylvania for her Master of Science in Education with honors. Her passion for education and love of reading was instrumental in shaping her students during her timeas a teacher in New York and Florida.
The family wants to acknowledge the wonderful care over the years by her caregivers, Lynn, Princess, Dionne, Rachel, Sharon and Lemi.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Cure PSP.
