Roz Sollinger passed away on Monday, August 19, after 90 years and 24 days of relentlessly contagious kindness and warmth. Born in Long Beach and raised in Brooklyn and Queens, she built a family in Uniondale and then split time between homes in Oceanside on LI and Roxbury in the Catskills, which was her special place. Roz was famous for her french toast casserole and homemade gefilte fish, freezing leftovers, dominating the mahjong table, ruling the pool upstate and kvelling over her six grandchildren. Her very few vices included the NY Mets and an extra glass of wine or two. Roz adored her brilliant husband of 55 years, Herb, with whom she is happily reunited after 13 years apart. Roz was the best listener ever. She had a powerful life force, right up until the end.
Roz is survived by children Robin Gleeson, Eddie & Susan Sollinger, and Andrew Sollinger & Susie Orenstein, and grandchildren Connor (& soon Savannah) Gleeson, Nora & Michael Ambrozewicz, Julia Sollinger, Emma Sollinger, Jesse Sollinger and Noah Sollinger.
