S. Robert Kroll (Bob) passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 23, 2025 at the age of 91. He is survived by his children, Laura Hall, Steven (Tricia) Kroll, and Brian (Tracey) Kroll. He will be missed by his grandchildren Allison Hall and Eric (Rana) Hall, Kate Kroll, and Jack Kroll, and his four great-grandchildren Amelia, Samira, Lennon, and Lori. He was pre-deceased by Irene, the love of his life and spouse of more than 60 years.

The entire family will cherish our annual summer family trips to Ogunquit, ME, Lake Placid, NY, Baltimore, MD, Rehoboth Beach, DE, and many other destinations. In later years we embraced the old-fashioned New England lobster bakes in his backyard.

Bob lived in Merrick for almost his entire life, having attended Chatterton School and W.C. Mepham High School. He maintained friendships from his childhood throughout his life, journeying to Connecticut to spend Thanksgiving with a childhood school friend just last year.

Bob graduated from Hofstra College and Brooklyn Law School and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1958. His law practice in Nassau County spanned more than 50 years.

The Merrick Jewish Center – Congregation Ohr Torah was the center of family life and Bob was a lifetime member, long-serving director, and two-term President of the synagogue. Bob and Irene found joy in travel with their lifelong friends in the synagogue community, visiting Israel, Australia, Alaska, South America, and Europe.

Service to others was a foundational value and days off were few. Bob was a member and leader in Rotary International, Kawanis International, his local Masonic Lodge, Rapport, and took on many pro-bono projects and mentorship opportunities through the Bar Association. He was an election worker, participated in local politics, and served as a community representative for the NYS Legislature for many years.

Shiva arrangements will follow immediately after interment at Meadowbrook Pointe Club House, 700 Emanuel Way, East Meadow, NY until 4:00 pm, and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Shiva will continue Friday June 27th from 10:00am-2:00pm. Please park in ‘non-reserved’ parking spaces.
